He was born in Germany and became a barrister by career. Jaenicke was an unsuccessful candidate for the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation in the 1938 Saskatchewan provincial election at Kerrobert-Kindersley riding.[1][2] He was first elected to Parliament at the Kindersley riding in the 1945 general election.
