Hobbs Islands (67°19′S 59°58′E / 67.317°S 59.967°E / -67.317; 59.967) is a group of islands 10 nautical miles (18 km) northeast of William Scoresby Bay. The largest island of this group was discovered on February 18, 1931 by British Australian New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (BANZARE) under Mawson who thought it to be a cape and called it Cape Hobbs. Later exploration by the William Scoresby expedition (1936) and the Lars Christensen Expedition (1936-37) showed it to be part of an island group. Named by Mawson for Professor William H. Hobbs.
