Moore is a right-handed opening batsman (and part-time right-arm medium pace bowler) who plays first-class cricket for Lancashire County Cricket Club. He previously played for Worcestershire from 2003 until 2009. Educated at St Stithians College in Johannesburg and at Exeter University, from which he graduated MEng, Moore is also a keen saxophonist. His highest score is 246, scored against Derbyshire in May 2005.[1] In 2008 he was the first player to reach 1000 runs for the season, during the course of an innings of 139 against Gloucestershire. He finished the season as the highest scorer in first-class cricket with 1451 runs. At the end of 2009 season Moore left the club, invoking a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave following the club's relegation from the first division of the County Championship. He signed a two-year contract with Lancashire.[2] Moore's season came to a premature end in late July when he dislocated his shoulder while fielding in Lancashire's Twenty20 quarter-final. Surgery on the shoulder was required.[3] Career Best Performances as of 28 July 2010 Batting Bowling Score Fixture Venue Season Score Fixture Venue Season FC 246 Worcestershire v Derbyshire Worcester 2005 1-13 Worcestershire v Lancashire Worcester 2004 LA 118 Lancashire v Surrey Croydon 2010 1-1 Worcestershire v Scotland Worcester 2004 T20 83* Lancashire v Durham Riverside 2010 n/a References ^ Worcestershire v Derbyshire at Worcester, 11-14 May 2005, Cricinfo, Retrieved 8 October 2009 ^ Lancashire secure Moore signing, BBC Sport, Retrieved 8 October 2009 ^ Lancashire batsman Stephen Moore ruled out for season, BBC Sport, 30 July 2010, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/counties/lancashire/8870865.stm, retrieved 2010-07-30  External links Player Profile: Stephen Moore (cricketer) from Cricinfo Statistical summary from CricketArchive Player Statistics on Cricket-Online English Cricket Board Players Page v • d • e Lancashire County Cricket Club – current squad 1 Chanderpaul · 2 Procter · 3 Chapple (c) · 4 Parry · 6 Moore · 7 Sutton · 8 Newby · 9 Anderson · 10 Kerrigan · 11 Flintoff · 14 Brown · 15 Croft · 16 Cross · 17 Shankar · 18 Cheetham · 19 Mahmood · 20 Horton · 21 Chilton · 22 Hogg · 23 Keedy · 24 Smith · 26 Montgomery · Coach: Moores Persondata Name Moore, Stephen Alternative names Short description Date of birth 4 November 1980 Place of birth Johannesburg Date of death Place of death This biographical article related to an English cricketer born in the 1980s is a stub.
