Winston Origin Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Genres Indie pop Years active c. 2002 – present Labels Aquarius Website winstonmusic.com Members Ryan Hauschild Past members Lanny Hussey Robbie Watkins Tony Kerr Winston is a Canadian indie pop band from Vancouver founded by singer-songwriter Ryan Hauschild. Although it is now essentially his solo project,[1] the band previously comprised Hauschild on vocals, guitars and piano; guitarist Lanny Hussey; drummer Robbie Watkins; and bass guitarist Tony Kerr. The band won CFOX Radio's Vancouver Seeds band contest of 2003. That year, The Province (December 28, 2003) named them as one of the top-ten local acts of the year. They toured Canada in 2004 to promote their full-length release, Passengers.[2] Hauschild, as Winston, is now signed to Aquarius Records. His solo debut, Limited, released in 2007, was made without the use of any digital devices at all, not even a digital guitar tuner.[3] He toured Western Canada as opening act for Emm Gryner in June 2007.[4] Hauschild has also worked as record producer for bands such as Vancouver group Jake Jasmine. The band took their name from the main character of George Orwell's classic novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.
